An interesting book that keeps one constantly wondering if it is truth or fiction. If truth, it's playing with fire; if fiction, a fun read.

- Lila Walker, Denver, Colorado - 2011-07-02

This is truly something a little bit off the beaten path. The Duke was character larger than life and Falconi likely his best chronicler. This book is by turns a profane and fascinating look at a Dubai that has likely vanished. Enjoy the ride! Sean O'Reilly Editor-at-Large Travelers' Tales

This is a fascinating glimpse into what is probably a lost world now. Utterly profane, the book is full of surprises. One of my favorite parts was the author's meeting with one of the mountain Djinn after chewing Qat. Must reading for anyone interested in the recent history of Dubai. Very sad to hear that your Book is BANNED in Dubai. God knows...... Why?

- John, Dubai - 2008-10-21

Now I am sure that I want to visit Dubai. Luigi Falconi descibes what I always wanted to know closer. I admire his writing because for me it is like living it. Total excitment combined with the learning of a different culture. This is a must read and a page turner that left me astonished. Thank you Luigi!

Luigi’s stories are all fiction. When my book is published the real truth of Dubai’s past will be told.

- Romero J. Marcello, New Orleans - 2008-03-07

Great book - having lived in Dubai for many years - I am able to identify the times and the fun - oh how it makes me long for the old days - when you could cut across the desert instead of using the super highway!

- Tom Rollinson, houston, Tx - 2008-03-06

The Budweiser Bedouin? I still belly-laugh when visualizing the bandoleered Abdul wearing an "I HAD A CLIMAX AT ROCKY'S PLACE" t-shirt over his dishdashah. Luigi can tell a tale - and there are plenty of them to be told.

- The Honourable Andrew Stuart, Scotland - 2008-03-03

Fiction! I did business in Dubai in the early 70s and I'm sure I met some of the characters in this book. Or did I? This is a great read.
